Ah now it is all back
Anyways, I had a big long diatribe before Facebook booted me yet again. Thanks for your input Rebecca, without it I can only guess as to what the members want.
I know the friend request option works (well at least as far as I can see on my end) as does the messaging. The one problem I do see is
More in the area of layout since the friend requests and messages show up at the bottom of the screen and are easily missed.
The thing is, there are other area's of the site which like the Facebook wall will allow members to know who you are. In particular the shoutbox and the speakspace. I know members are going to those pages as I see it in the stats. The thing is, only a few of us are
Posting in there and at times it seems like we are talking to ourselves. I know writing about ourselves is not always easy which is why I tried the whole joke competition.... Hell, there is free stuff down the raid and members won't even post a joke, but yet everyone still goes to Facebook which they claim to hate.

Don't get me wrong, I am by no means complaining or bitching. The whole purpose of lesbian lexicon is to bring the community closer together and if that can be done in a Facebook group I can save some money in hosting fee's. No, I am not giving up on lexicon yet :)
I guess I am just trying to find out why members are hesitant to post anything on the site? Is it a problem wit the speakspace interface? Is it the layout or do they just hate the site? Without input I can only guess. My last guesses resulted in me spending someone else's money on modules that I thought would boost interest and activity (points module and games module) I even went as far as to promise future prizes and gifts in exchange for those points and created a joke competition in hopes of building more interest. So far, one joke.
I guess I'm stumped. I really feel that together we (the worldwide lesbian community) can create a wonderful member run community. A community where we can all gather and mingle to talk about life the universe and everything. A community where members can connect and fall in love... Or lust if that is more their thing. And most of all, a community where we can be ourselves and not be judged by the rest of the world, a place where we can be comfortable in sHaring our feelings and... Ok I will stop there, I am starting to sound like Obama. "yes we can" :p but really, we can... It will just take a community effort for it to work.
So back to the question, what is better about Facebook over www.lesbianlexicon.org remember, as members of lexicon, you have the power to change the site... Facebook.... Not so much. So, please tell me. What do you want changed on Lesbian Lexicon? The one thing I will not do, however, is charge for membership. :)

A question to those who are also members of http://www.lesbianlexicon.org/ (the free lesbian only social netwoking website) I noticed there is not all that much activity in the speakspace also known as the blogs. I see alot of login activity and I know you gals can write because I see some great content here. So that leaves me thinking there is something different on Lexicon. If there is something stopping you from posting on the site, please feel free to let me know. After all it is only by communicating we get to know one another is this wonderful l-world :)
